Alison creates handbuilt ceramics.
Recently, she has started a collection of sculptural work, entitled ‘funny you should say that’, which is a playful interpretation of common sayings and puns, eg can of worms, kettle of fish, three’s a crowd etc. She handbuilds individual pieces in a naive and humorous style, exploiting and combining the different textures in stoneware and raku clay. Often other materials, such as driftwood and metal elements, are incorporated in the colourful designs. The launch of this new collection earlier in the year has been successful, with customers enjoying the fun and humour in the pieces.
